One of the artists who worked on Avengers: Infinity War revealed a stunningly creepy design for one member of Thanos’ Black Order, Proxima Midnight.
While the Black Order were a great part of Avengers: Infinity War, many fans were disappointed they weren’t given more to do across their introduction and in Avengers: Endgame. But a new design from one of the artists on the film revealed a creepy look which would’ve made Proxima Midnight even more intimidating than she already is. The villain was voiced by The Leftovers and Gone Girl star Carrie Coon, so it’s a shame the film didn’t utilize her incredible talents more.
Jerad S. Marantz took to Instagram with the alternate design of the villain, explaining that he was asked to go for a much more alien look to begin with. While Proxima Midnight wears a headdress in the comics, Avengers: Infinity War made them into horns that curled out of her head. In this design, the horns extended out of her cheekbones while her nose almost looks like an aquatic blowhole. It’s not the first alternate Proxima Midnight design the artist has revealed, as he posted two other designs earlier this year. Take a look at the Avengers: Infinity War artist’s latest reveal below.

#proximamidnight went through quite a bit of exploration. Here’s an option I did when I was asked to come up with something more alien. The funny thing about this character in the design process was that I actually got most of the design resolved in the earlier passes. But the design process like filmmaking can be very fluid. I always thought this Was a fun direction, but I’m glad they circled back to something more human. #avengers #avengersendgame #avengersinfinitywar #childrenofthanos #conceptart #creaturedesign #jsmarantz #mcu #marvel #thanos #blackorder
