Agents of SHIELD Avengers Infinity War

Showrunner Jed Whedon revealed Agents of SHIELD planned to reference the Snap in Avengers: Infinity War during the finale.

Now that Agents of SHIELD has come to a close, showrunner Jed Whedon recently opened up about the final season and what didn’t make the cut. While it referenced Avengers: Endgame by using the Quantum Realm, it nearly directly mentioned the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The series is no stranger to referencing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently name-dropping the Red Skull himself.

Jed Whedon spoke to The New York Times about everything that went into ending the long-running series, and opened up about referencing Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. He pointed out that the only way to survive the Snap is to be in the Quantum Realm when it happened, and since Agents of SHIELD used the dimension as a plot-point, there were originally plans to mention Infinity War along the way. Take a look below.

“Some of the stuff they did with time travel in ‘Endgame’ indicated that there are other timelines where other adventures are occurring. We’re following the multi-verse rule. The only way that someone survives Thanos’s snap in the movies is go into the quantum realm, and we originally did plan to give that a mention — because we used the quantum realm to move between timelines — but it got cut for time.”
