‘Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Delivers Another Shocking Death

But hopefully they'll return pretty soon.

Marvel Agents of SHIELD

The latest episode of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD featured another surprising death in the fight against the Chronicoms that fans didn’t see coming.

The latest season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been one of the most fascinating yet as the team travel through time to stop the Chronicoms, synthetic robots who observe and study less advanced races. The stakes are raised in the most recent episode “Adapt or Die” as Phil Coulson learns from the Chronicom Seer, Sibyl, that the robotic race are planning to take Earth for themselves. Since they can’t die, the Chronicoms believe they’re more worthy than the humans. Obviously, Coulson has something to say about that.

After arguing that humans are more special thanks to having a limited time to live, Phil Coulson retorts that “dying is kind of his superpower.” He blows himself up, killing the other Chronicoms in The Lighthouse, adding yet another death to his list of heroic sacrifices. Fans are beginning to lose track of how many times the hero has died on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.  Don’t worry, though, Coulson will return since he’s a Life Model Decoy. Jemma can just build a whole new version of him.

What did you think about Coulson dying yet again? Are you enjoying the final season? Sound-off in the comments below!

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD continues next week with the episode “The Totally Excellent Adventures of Mack and The D” on ABC. Here’s the official description for season seven:

Picking up where we left off with Season 6 — and the reveal of a new Phil Coulson Life Model Decoy — Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are thrust backward in time and stranded in 1931 New York City. With the all-new Zephyr set to time-jump at any moment, the team must hurry to find out exactly what happened. If they fail, it would mean disaster for the past, present, and future of the world.

Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley and Jeff Ward. The series was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb. It is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television for ABC.
