Is Florence Pugh the key to the MCU’s current woes? An Avengers rumor teases Yelena Belova may play a major role in the upcoming event films.
One of the biggest critiques fans have had about the current state of the MCU is that there doesn’t seem to be a main character. Unlike the first Saga of the franchise, which had Iron Man and Captain America as major thrulines in event films, there hasn’t been a single character to pull the heroes together for an Avengers film. The closest fans have gotten is Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts and a small cameo in Hawkeye.
However, Yelena Belova may end up actually being the main characters that MCU fans have been begging for. A rumor from MyTimeToShineHello teases that Florence Pugh will play a major role in the next two Avengers films, as well as make a cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This would certainly cement her as perhaps the most prevalent character during the Multiverse Saga.
Florence Pugh’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
Out of the three films in this rumor, the most obvious place where Yelena Belova will play a big role is Avengers: Doomsday. Fans already know that her team of New Avengers is set to intercept the Fantastic Four thanks to the ending of Thunderbolts. It’s likely that Florence Pugh will play a leading role in bringing that team into the broader MCU, as well as introducing them to the ACTUAL Avengers.
As for Avengers: Secret Wars, Yelena Belova’s start in the MCU was seeking revenge for Natasha Romanoff. If Scarlett Johansson’s character does return via the Multiverse, it would make sense for Florence Pugh to play a large role in her send-off, finally getting closure with her sister. And given Black Widow was one of the first movies of the Multiverse Saga, it’d also be a full circle moment.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
