Avengers: Endgame star Sebastian Stan said during a recent Q&A that Batman villain The Riddler is a character that he would “love to play”.
Sebastian Stan who’s best known for playing Captain America’s (Chris Evans) best friend Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe expressed that he’d love to play a member of Batman’s rogues gallery, The Riddler, during the Jus In Bello event in Rome.
Sebastian Stan took part in a Q&A where he was asked what character he hasn’t played yet that he would love to play to which he responded with the master of riddles:
“I would love to try and play The Riddler. That’s an interesting character. I don’t know how you’d play that one actually, that would be very hard to be honest, because you couldn’t be like crazy crazy crazy. You would have to be kind of much darker than that, but that’s an interesting character.”
Sebastian Stan would only be the second incarnation of The Riddler that we’ve seen on the big screen. The first to play The Riddler on film was Jim Carrey in 1995’s Batman Forever. Until that time comes, we will continue to see Sebastian Stan as Bucky/Winter Soldier in the Disney+ series Falcon & Winter Solider.

Plot details for Matt Reeves’ Batman film are still under wraps, though the project has been rumored to be centered on a younger Caped Crusader as he tackles several of his more traditional enemies such as The Penguin and Catwoman. While Warner Bros. is set to restart the character’s story on the big screen, Matt Reeves has confirmed that his film will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic. Robert Pattinson has reportedly been cast in the Bruce Wayne/Batman role as Ben Affleck’s replacement, however, Warner Bros. has yet to make an official announcement.
The film is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. The list also includes a Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, The Suicide Squad, Aquaman 2, The Trench, Black Adam, Supergirl, Plastic Man and New Gods.
