Avengers: Secret Wars may be getting a major overhaul! A rumor suggests that the finale to the MCU’s Multiverse Saga may end up having two parts.
Ever since it was announced that the MCU would be adapting Secret Wars as the finale to their Multiverse Saga, there was one question on everyone’s minds: how? The Avengers films have certainly been big. However, be it the 2015 or the 1985 version, Secret Wars is a truly Olympian task to adapt – no matter what way you slice it.
However, it seems as though the rumor mill may be able to provide fans with an answer. John Rocha on The Hot Mic suggests that the MCU could be looking to expand their Multiverse Saga. The insider suggests that, due to the size of Doomsday alone, there are currently discussions at Marvel on whether or not to split Avengers: Secret Wars into two parts.
“[My source] heard that Doomsday could run for three hours and that it’s huge. They are considering splitting Secret Wars into two parts.”
How To Split Avengers: Secret Wars
Ironically, the easiest question when it comes to how to split Avengers: Secret Wars is what the story will be. The Secret Wars arc famously has two villains: The Beyonder and Doctor Doom. And given The Beyonder has been all-but missing from the rumor mill, splitting the Multiverse Saga’s finale in twain could be the perfect chance to introduce him into the MCU.
The bigger question is how they would split the release of the two movies. The obvious answer would be to put the two parts of Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027 and 2028 respectively. However, that would essentially set back the MCU by an entire year. More likely, the Multiverse Saga will conclude with about a 6-month gap between installments, likely in December 2027 and June 2028.
Avengers: Secret Wars is set to hit theaters in December 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
