Awkwafina is set to join The Rock and Kevin Hart in the upcoming untitled sequel to their Jumanji reboot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crazy Rich Asians and Oceans 8 star Awkwafina is in final negotiations to join The Rock and Kevin Hart in the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The actress is a breakout talent that has made a name for herself through playing these great characters in two huge movies last year. Awkwafina will play a key, undisclosed role in the upcoming sequel to The Rock, Kevin Hart and Sony’s Jumanji Reboot.
The studio has set Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, two of the writers behind the first movie, to pen a sequel that would reunite Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan. Matt Tolmach is returning as a producer alongside Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle grossed $962.1 million at the worldwide box office, with $404,4 million of that coming from North America, making it Sony’s biggest hit to date. Thanks to it and a few other things, Sony posted a decent profit for the October-to-December quarter and record profits for 2017.

In the sequel, four high schoolers discover Jumanji, now in the form of an old video game, and are sucked into the jungles of the game, taking on the form of very different avatars who must beat the story in order to return to the real world.
Directed by Jake Kasdan, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is now available on Digital HD, 4K, Blu-Ray and DVD. The film’s cast also includes Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Maribeth Monroe, Missi Pyle, Purab Kohli, Rhys Darby, Tim Matheson, Marc Evan Jackson, and Bobby Cannavale.
