The Bad Boys for Life directors opened up about their meetings with Marvel and DC as they search for the right project to suit them.

After Bad Boys for Life made an impressive debut, earning $204.4 million in its domestic run and $419 million worldwide, the directors are understandably eager to start their next project. When speaking to ComicBook.com, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah opened up about their meetings with Marvel and DC. The pair previously mentioned they’d love to direct Deadpool or Mahershala Ali’s Blade movie, but El Arbi says they’d like a shot at Batman in the future.

“So far, we also had a meeting with DC. Obviously, we said, ‘Hey, 30 years if there’s a new Batman, we’re still here!’. We’re huge Marvel fans but it was just talks at this point. There was nothing yet concrete. If we find something that we really love and that fits to our personality then, yeah, for sure, we go for it. It would be an honor to work with them. We are exploring at this point. We are looking for what is the right character, right storyline to go. If they have something, if we have something, I hope that very soon we find something and we can work with Marvel or DC, as well.”

The Bad Boys for Life directors also discussed their favorite characters and which superheroes from both companies they liked growing up. Although the duo watched Marvel’s Spider-Man cartoons and movies when they were young, they preferred DC characters. Adil El Arbi explained that while Superman was a favorite, it was the Dark Knight himself who really resonated with the pair growing up.

“Spider-Man came to us. When we were young, we watched the cartoons of Spider-Man and obviously the first movies. It was mostly DC characters like Superman and Batman that we really loved. For us, we grew up with them and, personally, always Batman.”
