The directors behind Bad Boys For Life revealed they’d like to direct either Blade or Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although it’ll be a few years before we see Mahershala Ali’s Blade or Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in the MCU, the directors behind Bad Boys For Life revealed they’d like to direct one of the two projects for Marvel Studios. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah recently confirmed they’d met with the studio, but didn’t explain which characters they’d discussed. But in an interview with Discussing Film, the pair revealed that Deadpool would be their first pick because he has “more of an edge,” but El Arbi also mentioned he likes Blade.
El Arbi: “There’s so much. You know, we love Deadpool.”
Fallah: “We love Deadpool!”
El Arbi: “Definitely. I mean there is more of an edge. If there was a Marvel character in the Bad Boys world…”
Fallah: “It would be Deadpool.”
El Arbi: “Then Blade is cool too!”
El Arbi continued by explaining that there’s a “high responsibility” that comes with these characters and if they were asked to helm a Marvel film they wouldn’t take it lightly. He also mentioned that they love the heroes and was careful to point out that they’ve both had R-rated movies, clearly liking the appeal of the violent characters.
“Well, if you do something like that it’s a high responsibility as well. If they say, yeah you’ll do Deadpool. It’s not as if we’re going to just say yeah – we’ll say “Oh sh*t”. But we love these characters. They’re also rated R characters.”

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that he is working on a Deadpool sequel with Marvel Studios. However, there has been no official word on where Ryan Reynolds’ third Deadpool film might fit into Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 or 5 line-ups.
