Ryan Reynolds explained why he believes a third Deadpool film from Disney would be a win for all involved.
After Disney acquired 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets, some fans were concerned about what the future held for Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool film series. While the Merc with a Mouth’s two features proved to be box office successes, the adult-oriented comedy of the franchise didn’t seem like it would be a natural fit for Disney’s family-friendly brand.
During an interview with Total Film, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he currently doesn’t know what the plan is for the Deadpool franchise, saying, “It’s just all so new with it being over at Marvel now, and, you know, figuring out the ins and outs as much as I can, from where I sit. We’ll see.” However, Reynolds noted that as a fan of how Disney and Marvel Studio’s produced films, having Deadpool join the MCU will be a win for everyone involved:
“I don’t feel like an insider at all. I think once I’m more intimate with it – if we get to make a Deadpool 3… if or when we get to make a Deadpool 3, I’ll probably have a better perspective on that. But I’m a huge fan of Marvel, and how they make movies. So when Disney bought Fox, I only saw that as a good thing. Deadpool hopefully being allowed to play in that sandbox, I think is just a win for everyone involved. But we’ll certainly see.”

Ryan Reynolds previously confirmed that he is working on a Deadpool sequel with Marvel Studios. However, there has been no official word on where the third Deadpool film might fit into Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 or 5 plans.
