There’s no denying that we’re in the golden age of comic book films, especially with the highest-grossing franchise of all time being the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we’re certainly getting a healthy dose of adapted fiction films, we’ve also recently been getting a slew of documentaries that shed light on comic books, and comic book films. With interest as high as ever, it makes sense for Hulu to release Batman and Bill, a documentary that discusses Bill Finger’s role in the creation of Batman.

Everyone knows Bob Kane as the sole creator of Batman, but this documentary hopes to reveal Bill Finger’s contribution to the character to an entirely new generation. Featuring interviews from comic and Batman experts, as well as noted comic book fan, Kevin Smith, the film hopes to not only educate fans and newcomers but also provide commentary on the character as well.
Everyone thinks that Bob Kane created Batman, but that’s not the whole truth. One author makes it his crusade to seek justice for Bill Finger, a struggling writer who was the key figure in creating the iconic superhero, from concept to costume to the very character we all know and love. Bruce Wayne may be Batman’s secret identity, but his creator was always a true mystery.
