The latest set photos from DC’s Joker finally gives fans a glimpse at Brett Cullen as Batman/ Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas Wayne, who is running for mayor of Gotham in the DC origin film.
Now that Joker has begun filming, fans have been treated to awesome footage and set photos full of Easter eggs. One Easter egg spotted on set features a very important character to the Batman legacy, Thomas Wayne. If you don’t recognize him by name, Thomas Wayne is the father of Bruce Wayne, and it’s his death that set Bruce on his path to becomes Batman. There’s no news yet on whether Wayne’s death will play a part in the film but one thing’s for sure, he has some sort of presence in the film.
The photo below doesn’t feature Cullen on-set of the DC film just yet, but the signs marketing his campaign to become mayor of Gotham give fans their first look at the character, once rumored to be played by Alec Baldwin. The political poster featured below has a pretty noticeable spelling error that is presumably intentional, though the context has yet to be revealed.
It’s fascinating that six years after appearing in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy-ending Batman adventure The Dark Knight Rises, Cullen is now playing Batman’s dad in one of the most anticipated movies of next year. If you’re a huge DC fan, next year is going to be a good year for you. Aside from the numerous DC series currently running, 2019 will bring live-action films like Joker, Wonder Woman 1984, Shazam!, as well as animated films such as Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, Reign of the Supermen, Justice League vs. The Fatal Five, and Batman: Hush.
