Ben Affleck’s Batman and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke clash in an awesome new DC Extended Universe-inspired concept design.

Following the box office and critical disappointment of Justice League, Warner Bros. opted to shift its DC Films division in a new direction. Several movies were put on indefinite hold, other projects were flat-out canceled and some jumped to the front of the production line while the company tried to figure out what to do with the DC Extended Universe. Among the casualties was Ben Affleck’s The Batman.

Ben Affleck played the DC Extended Universe version of Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League and was set to direct and co-write his first cinematic outing as the iconic comic book hero. Unfortunatly, somewhere along the way, Ben Affleck lost his passion for the character and gradually shifted the project and the role to Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson. While Patttinson’s Batman is set to take on the Riddler and a few other DC Comics villains, Ben Affleck’s version of the Caped Crusader was supposed to clash with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke.

Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke has so far only had one appearance in the DCEU. The character had a small cameo in one of the post-credits scenes of Justice League, meeting with Lex Luthor to set up a team to take on the Justice League. Sadly it appears that we may never see Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke in a Batman film but that has not stopped some fans from imagining what such a clash would look like.

Digital artist Saarukan Suhanthan recently shared a fan edit that shows Ben Affleck’s Batman fighting Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, giving us an idea of what such a fight would have looked like in the film. You can see the full concept design below.

Ben Affleck’s Batman and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke were last seen in Justice League. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut will arrive on HBO Max in 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding former Batman actor Ben Affleck and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
