Ben Affleck reflected on his experience working out with Henry Cavill for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

After making his debut as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, Henry Cavill reprised the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Released in 2016, Batman v Superman also marked the first appearance of Ben Affleck’s Batman, who sought to eliminate what he perceived to be a threat posed by Henry Cavill’s Superman.

For their respective roles as Batman and Superman, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill worked out extensively in order to be in top shape. During an interview with Men’s Health, Ben Affleck joked about serving more as Henry Cavill’s trainer for Batman v Superman:

“I wouldn’t say we ‘worked out’ so much as I acted as Henry’s trainer. I really had to help him increase muscle mass—before my coaching, he looked like Gumby.”

However, Ben Affleck later shared his true feelings on sharing in Henry Cavill’s intense Batman v Superman workout routine, saying, “In all honesty, we did work out together. And I hated it.”

Here is the official synopsis for Batman v Superman:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Directed Zack Snyder, Batman v Superman stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.
