Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley is set to reprise his role as Trevor Slattery in the upcoming Wonder Man series on Disney plus.
Variety reports that the Wonder Man series has found its first cast member in Ben Kingsley, who is returning to the role of Trevor Slattery. The character was introduced in 2013’s Iron Man 3 before making a surprise appearance in last year’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. According to the trade, Trevor is expected to play a major role in the Wonder Man series.
Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community) is leading the writing team of the Wonder Man series, with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton on board as an executive producer. Cretton could also direct episodes of the the Disney Plus series.
Who is Marvel’s Wonder Man?
Created by Stan Lee, Don Heck and Jack Kirby, Wonder Man made his first comic book apperance in the pages of The Avengers #9, which was published in October 1964. Also known as Simon Williams, Wonder Man was initially introduced as a villain before turning into a superhero and joining the Avengers. The character has yet to make a live-action appearance.
In addition to Wonder Man, Destin Daniel Cretton is also working on a follow-up to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the recently-announced Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. There’s currently no official production timeline for the Shang-Chi sequel and The Kang Dynasty but the Wonder Man series could begin filming as soon as 2023.
