Marvel Studios’ Ryan Meinerding has shared new Doctor Strange concept art which gives us a look at the alternate designs that were considered for Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme.

A few says ago, Disney and Marvel Studios reshuffled their upcoming Phase 4 line-up due to the delays caused by the coronavirus outbreak. One of the films affected was Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which moved from a May 2021 release date to Thor: Love and Thunder‘s November 2021 slot.

Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is stepping in to direct the upcoming sequel that will see the return of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. With every new Marvel Cinematic Universe film, our heroes return with a new look. Marvel Studios’ Ryan Meinerding shared some unused designs of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange from the first film on his Instagram and said the following about the art:

Unused Dr. Strange design from Dr. Strange. I love figuring out textures and patterns, and the embroidery on this was challenging but fun.”
