Benedict Wong Pitches Disney+ Team-Up With Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds

The CEO of Magic?

Jacob Batalon Ned Leeds Benedict Wong

Doctor Strange star Benedict Wong recently pitched a crossover with Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds from the Spider-Man films.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was revealed that Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds has some magic in him since he was able to operate Doctor Strange’s Sling Ring. When Benedict Wong talked to Amon Warmann on the Fade to Black podcast, he threw out a pitch for a Disney Plus series with Wong training Ned:

“Well look, hey, I’ll just have to wait for the Wong-tourage to kind of make the placards, they’re rioting in the streets now. Hey, what do we say? It would be wonderful, wouldn’t it? I’d certainly be up for it, definitely. Where’d we go with that? We could go anywhere. So far, we always have Wong go through a portal and we don’t know what happened for the last 5 years so maybe there’s a [story] in it. Yeah, like a 5-year series. And some, they [Marvel Studios] do it so well. I’d quite like the idea of the sorcerer and the apprentice with Ned as my apprentice. Obviously, he’s got a few of the old portal skills.”

With Marvel Studios doing plenty of team-ups in the MCU, one with Benedict Wong and Jacob Batalon’s Ned isn’t a stretch. In the comics, Batalon’s Ned Leeds famously becomes the Hobgoblin, so perhaps a Disney Plus series can explore that part of this comic book history as well?

Wong will show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness next. Here is the film’s synopsis:

The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, and Patrick Stewart.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming film, the future of Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds and Wong in the MCU, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
