Billie Eilish recently discussed the process of how she got the gig to sing and write the James Bond theme for upcoming No Time To Die.
One of the most iconic jobs one can have in the music industry is having the opportunity to sing a James Bond theme song. Arguably the most coveted musical performance in cinematic history, the James Bond theme song is both there to represent the film as a whole but also the time it was created. Superstar Billie Eilish has been tapped to write the song for James Bond’s next cinematic solo outing No Time To Die, . For No Time To Die.
During an interview at iHeartRadio’s ALTer EGO event, Billie Eilish was asked how the process to write and sing for No Time To Die started. In doing so, Billie Eilish revealed when she began working on the song for No Time To Die, as well as who she worked on the song with.
“That was a while ago. It’s something me and my brother, who is my writing partner, we’ve tried to write a Bond song for our whole lives. Not even like, we want to get the Bond song, just like every song that’s been the opening credit of the movies. It’s just like, always been fantastic. And Bond is so dope! Like it really is, it’s the coolest movie franchise in the world. So, it was a crazy call and a crazy last couple of months, and working on it with Hans [Zimmer]. Oh my god, it was amazing. I’m very excited.”
It’s quite telling how excited Billie Eilish is, especially because she’s a known pop culture aficionado. Billie Eilish’s songs have previously been ripe with pop culture references, so it’s pretty great for her to have a dream come true. As expected, Billie Eilish is working on the No Time To Die track with her brother Finneas. In addition, Billie Eilish revealed that she worked on the No Time To Die track with iconic film composer Hans Zimmer, who is known for his large, sprawling productions, which mimics Billie Eilish’s work. All in all, it seems as if Billie Eilish and James Bond fans are in for a treat when the No Time To Die track drops sometime before the film’s release.
