Birds of Prey star Jurnee Smollett-Bell dons Black Canary’s fishnet suit in this new behind-the-scenes photo from the upcoming DC Comics film.

In this behind-the-scenes photo, we see Jurnee Smollett-Bell shooting promotional photos for her role as Black Canary in Birds of Prey. Here, she dons one particular element from Black Canary’s suit as seen in the comic books that hasn’t been as prominent in the promotional material for Birds of Prey thus far: fishnets.

You can check out the behind-the-scenes photo of Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary in Birds of Prey down below:

As you can see, the fishnets Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary dons in this photo is in the form of some sort of dress, whereas the comic book version of the suit gives Black Canary fishnet stockings as part of her design.

Some fans have criticized the costume design for the characters featured in Birds of Prey, with some wishing that the production went for costumes that were more comic book-accurate. Hopefully, the finished product showcases to audiences that these different designs for the cast of Birds of Prey will work to the film’s advantage – particularly in the case for Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary.

Full details on the Birds of Prey plot are currently unknown, though the film is said to center on Huntress, Black Canary, and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn joining forces to protect Cassandra Cain when she comes into the possession of a diamond belonging to a criminal kingpin known as Black Mask.

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Warner Bros.’ Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan, McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Birds of Prey opens in theaters on February 7, 2020.
