Birds of Prey star Margot Robbie hopes to see Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s relationship on screen in the future and says she has an open-mind when it comes to casting.
Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy have been teaming-up since Batman: The Animated Series and August’s 70th issue of Injustice 2 revealed the two DC characters as a married couple. Robbie spoke with Pride Source, where she expressed interest in exploring Harley and Poison Ivy’s relationship on screen:
“Yeah. If you read the comics you know that Poison Ivy and Harley have an intimate relationship. In some comics they convey it as a friendship; in other comics you can see that they’re actually sexually involved as a couple. I’ve been trying to – I would love to have Poison Ivy thrown into the universe, because the Harley and Poison Ivy relationship is one of my favorite aspects of the comics, so I’m looking to explore that on screen”
Poison Ivy isn’t expected to appear in Birds of Prey or in the greater DCEU, however, Robbie reveals she is keeping an open-mind on who could play her:
“You know what? I’ve thought about it a lot and there’s no one person who springs to mind. I’m pretty open-minded.”
