‘Black Adam’ Producer Gives A Much Needed Update On The Dwayne Johnson Movie

Shazam Dwayne Johnson Black Adam Zachary Levi

The Shazam! movie didn’t show us Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, but a producer for the Black Adam movie provided a new update on the long-awaited standalone film.

Dwayne Johnson is currently starring in the upcoming Fast and Furious spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw. At the world premiere in Los Angeles, Producer Hiram Garcia talked with Cinemablendabout Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie. Hiram Garcia collaborates with Dwayne Johnson on all projects, including Black Adam. Regarding the upcoming DC movie which is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Garcia said:

“Jaume is a real talent. He is one of my favorite directors I’ve ever worked with. Not only is he talented, he’s an unbelievable collaborator. He’s an amazing visionary. And what we have in store with Black Adam and for the fans, I am so excited inside. Inside, I take pride as being a fan boy. I started as a fan boy before I became a producer, so I hold onto that DNA. His vision for what we want to do with Black Adam is fantastic. So, that deal’s almost closed. He’s ready to go, and I think the fans are going to be really happy.”

Sounds like Dwayne Johnson will still be starring in Black Adam sooner rather than later. Other than that, Dwayne Johnson has plenty on his plate. In addition to Hobbs & Shaw, Dwayne Johnson will star in a few other upcoming films such as Jumanji: The Next Level and Jungle Cruise.

Here’s the official synopsis for Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam!  will be available on Digital HD starting July 2, 2019, followed by an Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD release on July 16.
