Is the MCU finally going to recast Black Panther? Fans are speculating that Damson Idris may pick up the role following a recent fashion show appearance.
The question of whether or not to recast the role of Black Panther has been one of the most contentious in the history of the MCU. There are a lot of powerful emotions that play into the discussion, with it being suffice to say that there’s no clear cut “right” answer. However, with the Multiverse Saga drawing to an end, discussions about a potential recast have certainly gotten louder.
Sitting at the center of this recast discourse is Damson Idris. The actor has been on the top of many peoples’ lists to take on the role of Black Panther in the MCU. However, perhaps even more interestingly, Idris also seems to be suggesting that there’s a chance it comes to life- with the actor hinting in an interview that there have been discussions about him taking on the role.
Is Damson Idris The New Black Panther?
The speculation regarding Damson Idris potentially taking on the mantle of Black Panther reached a fever pitch recently when the actor appeared at the Vogue World: Hollywood event. Black Panther actually served as one of the spotlights of the show, with actors dressing in iconic garb from Wakanda. One of these actors was Angela Bassett, who played the role of Queen Ramonda in the films, who was seen walking alongside Idris during the show.

Many consider this appearance alongside Angela Bassett as potentially being a subtle hint that Damson Idris may end up playing Black Panther in a future installment of the MCU. However, considering how many prominent black actors who do NOT have a role in the franchise, such as One Battle After Another‘s Teyana Taylor, appeared a the show- it’s not likely this is giving confirmation one way or another.
