‘Blue Beetle’ Gets Stunning New Poster Ahead Of Debut

It's all about FAMILY!

Xolo Mariduena Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle DC Universe

Xolo Maridueña is set to make his DC Universe debut in Blue Beetle in just a few days. A new poster teases that his family’s business isn’t exactly the family business.

The trailers for Blue Beetle haven’t strayed away from the fact that “Family” is a core part of the DC Universe’s debut film. Almost the entire supporting cast is Jaime Reyes’ (played by Xolo Maridueña) extended family, with Victoria Kord (Susan Sarandon) trying to reclaim her brother’s Scarab. A new poster puts that family at its focus with its tagline that puts Jaime on a brand new path:

Blue Beetle director Angel Manuel Soto has emphasized how much family means to the film, being one of the core themes of Jaime Reyes’ story. It seems as though the DC Universe is set to kick off with a film with a focus on heart, which is only fitting given how much love Xolo Maridueña has shown to the fans and the fans have shown from the movie.

Who is DC’s Blue Beetle?

Blue Beetle is one of DC’s lesser-known heroes, but he has a dedicated fanbase nonetheless. Created in 1939 by Charles Wojtkowski, Blue Beetle has gone through several iterations over the years. The Jaime Reyes version of the character was introduced during the events of 2006’s Infinite Crisis and quickly became a fan-favorite.

In the pages of DC Comics, Jaime Reyes is a teenager from El Paso, Texas. Jaime discovers a scarab beetle-shaped device that bonds with his body, giving him access to an advanced suit of armor and various powers. He becomes the latest in a long line of Blue Beetles and must learn to balance his newfound abilities with his everyday life.

Angel Manuel Soto is directing Blue Beetle from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. The full cast of the movie also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Trujillo, Susan Sarandon and Harvey Guillén.
