Progress is finally being made on Booster Gold! The long-awaited series has officially found its writer in Our Flag Means Death creator David Jenkins.
Booster Gold is an odd series for the DC Universe. It seemed to be one of the earliest projects making progress, with rumors swelling about key creatives attached and Kumail Nanjiani being cast in the titular role. However, as if over night, all of those rumors seemed to disappear- with chatter online suggesting that the original writers attached to the show had decided to leave the project.
Luckily, a new writer has officially been brought on to pen the pilot. David Jenkins, creator of Our Flag Means Death, has been confirmed by Deadline to be working on the upcoming Booster Gold series for the DC Universe. While details are sparse, it can be assumed that the project will be a 45 minute long dramedy project in a similar vein to other shows in the franchise.
When Will The Booster Gold Pilot Drop?
For those unaware, a pilot is essentially a test episode a network produces to see if they have any interest in the series. While it’s not likely that DC Studios will go so-far as shooting the pilot, this script will be a test to see if they enjoy David Jenkins’ vision for Booster Gold. If they don’t, it’s possible that the project get put on the backburner once more.
If they do like the project, that doesn’t mean David Jenkins will write the entire show, either. A successful pilot would mean that he’s brought on as the showrunner of Booster Gold, presiding over a writer’s room and being the final say on the vision of the DC Universe series. And while Our Flag Means Death did fumble following its freshman run, it’s clear that Jenkins has a unique style of writing that may be perfect from everyone’s favorite waverider.
