Does Superman approve?

It seems there’s no bad blood between Superman actors! Brandon Routh shares his review and reactions to the most recent DC Universe reboot.

Superman has become the talk of the town since it hit theaters. Despite the constant talk of superhero fatigue, no other project in the DC Universe or otherwise has been able to capture the energy of the latest reboot of the Man of Steel. As such, everyone online has been rushing to give their own take on the project and what it means to them.

The most recent actor to take up the pole is Brandon Routh, who actually played the Big Blue in 2006’s Superman Returns (as well as Atom in the CW’s DC Universe). Speaking with Variety, Routh remarked that he had a very deep emotional reaction when watching the reboot, adding that he definitely needs to watch the project again before it leaves theaters.

“It was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. I think David [Corenswet] is fantastic. I cried no less than three times…I see this in a different way. I come at it from a different perspective. I really got into it as I’m watching him navigate those tricky Superman moments in the first conversation with Lois and Clark in the apartment. And then all of the family stuff for me really hit. It’s a big movie. There’s a lot in there. I have to go see it again.”

Brandon Routh Shares His Excitement For DC

Yet it seems as though Brandon Routh isn’t just a fan of Superman. Continuing on, the actor expressed his excitement to see a new take on the DC Universe with the ongoing reboot. While he sadly isn’t tossing his hat into the ring to play Ted Kord, he does express his excitement in seeing new corners of the franchise explored on the silver screen.

“I really am excited for the potential for the DC Universe. A successful launch with this is just good for everybody who wants more of what DC has to offer. There are a lot of great properties that can be explored.”

A successful launch is an understatement. Even with the box office experiencing hit after hit, Superman still managed to surpass all expectations. The reboot is currently sitting at over $400 million at the worldwide box office, and showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. While it’s not likely to be the DC Universe’s next billion dollar baby, it’ll certainly get closer to that number with each passing day.
