Despite being Captain Marvel, Brie Larson’s place in the Marvel universe has never felt more unsure. The character made a splash with their role in Avengers: Endgame, being set up as a new powerhouse for the franchise strong enough to take on Thanos. However, following The Marvels flopping at the box office and no announcement about her future in the MCU, fans have been left unclear what role the character could play in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars.
The answer seems to come from scooper MyTimeToShineHello. The rumor posted to their social media reveals that Brie Larson is set to have a major role in both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars as Captain Marvel. Details about this role weren’t revealed though, given the reported cast size of both films, even having a major role shows her character is being held in high regard in the MCU.
Captain Marvel’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
The obvious plot thread for Captain Marvel to play a role in during Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars is the incursions. For those that didn’t see The Marvels, the post-credits scene revealed her cohort Monica Rambeau had been trapped in another universe home to another iconic Marvel hero. This would give Brie Larson a prominent role in the film, while also tying up yet another of the franchise’s loose ends.
Then again, it’s possible Brie Larson’s role in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars has nothing to do with Captain Marvel’s past. Rather, it’s possible that this rumor points to the heroine having a key part to play in forming a new Avengers team for the universe. This was something teased earlier in her character’s lifespan, and could provide a place to use the actress even if her next solo film continues to struggle at the box office.
