Early concept art for Captain Marvel was recently released and gives us a very different look for Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for staying pretty true visually to the characters’ appearances in the comics, especially from recent runs. Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel costume is a perfect example of this, with a look very similar to the one from the Kelly Sue Deconnick run.
However, at the start of Captain Marvel, Larson wore a green version of the suit due to her Kree allegiance. The suit would eventually change its colors to the traditional Captain Marvel red, blue, and gold, but there were some other options explored early on in development. On Instagram, concept artist Constantine Sekeris revealed an early look for Captain Marvel that is drastically different from what we ended up getting in the finished film. You can read what Sekeris had to say about the look and see the concept art for yourself below:
“Here is another captain Marvel early exploration of her kree costume a bit alien with a red pallette and different hair style…..did this design at Marvel studios in the Visual Development team lead by Andy Park…..was on this kool project for a short time to help explore different options …..was allot of fun and really enjoyed the film…..I was lucky enough to work with my friends and amazing talented artists and designers.”
