Marvel Studios’ The Marvels may find Brie Larson sharing the screen with two surprise MCU stars.

As we ring in the new year, Marvel Studios is looking to build upon their massive 2021 with the release of new films and Disney Plus original series for its 2022 and 2023 slate. One of the films fans are excited to see is The Marvels, the official sequel to Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.

The Marvels will find Brie Larson as the titular heroine alongside Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). Although the film was pushed to 2023, fans are still eager to see where the journey of one of the strongest Avengers is headed now, especially after hints we received from both WandaVision and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

In an interesting new development, actress Zenobia Shroff, who plays Muneeba Khan, the mother of Kamala Khan, posted on her official Instagram sharing a look from the set. In a photo, we see headshots of members from the film’s cast, and it appears that we will see the surprising return of two MCU stars.

POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING

In the Instagram post, we see two headshots of MCU actresses Tessa Thompson and Lashana Lynch, who play Valkyrie and Maria Rambeau respectively. Given that the film will be released sometime after Thor: Love and Thunder, it’s interesting to see how Valkyrie may be brought into the story of The Marvels, if she is in fact part of it at all. The same can be said about Maria Rambeau, who is confirmed to have passed away due to cancer sometime during the 5-year blip in WandaVision.

Brie Larson made her MCU debut as in Captain Marvel. Here is the synopsis:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. It’s also available to stream on Disney Plus. Meanwhile, The Marvels will hit theaters on February 17, 2023.
