Bryce Dallas Howard has revealed that she was asked to lose weight for Jurassic World Dominion but was defended by director Colin Trevorrow.
Bryce Dallas Howard made her first appearance in the franchise in Jurassic World as Claire Dearing. The main female lead of the sequel series Claire Dearing would also appear in the sequels. However, there was a lot of pressure on the actress to stay thin throughout the franchise.
A Common Tale In Hollywood
According to Bryce Dallas Howard, she has been asked not to use her natural body on camera. While speaking to Metro, she revealed that the higher-ups at Universal wanted her to lose weight for the latest Jurassic World film. Director Colin Trevorrow stood up for her and which allowed her to do stunts throughout the film:
“What being in this third film allowed, how do I say this, how do I say this, how do I say this…[I’ve] been asked to not use my natural body in cinema. On the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women cast, it was something that Colin felt very strongly about in terms of protecting me…because the conversation came up again, ‘We need to ask Bryce to lose weight.’ [Colin] was like, ‘There are lots of different kinds of women on this planet and there are lots of different kinds of women in our film.’ I got to do so many stunts that wouldn’t have been possible if I had been dieting. I’m really thrilled [at] all the action I got to do, and I got to do it with my body, she was at her maximum strength, and I hope it is just yet another indication of what’s possible.”
Dispite the director’s defense of Bryce Dallas Howard, Jurassic World Dominion was the worst-reviewed installment of the franchise and currently holds a 29% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film, has, however, managed to earn nearly $1B at the worldwide box office. Whether or not this will warnet a continuation of the franchise remains to be seen.
