20th Century Studios and Scott Free’s next Alien movie has cast rising actress Cailee Spaeny.
According to Deadline, Cailee Spaeny is in talks to star in the new Alien movie from Fede Alvarez, the director behind 2013’s Evil Dead and 2016’s Dont Breathe. Alvarez is directing the project from his own screenplay for Hulu.
Cailee Spaeny is best known for her role as Amara Namani in the Steven S. DeKnight-directed Pacific Rim Uprising, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 science-fiction monster film. She was last seen in the HBO miniseries Mare of Easttown and the Showtime drama The First Lady.
Ridley Scott’s involvement with the new Alien projects
The Alien project does not yet have a title, but Ridley Scott, the director behind the original movie as well as two of its sequels — 2012’s Prometheus and 2017’s Covenant — is on board as producer. Production is set to begin early next year.
In addition to this Alien movie, Ridley Scott is also attached to a television series set within the world of the science-fiction horror franchise. Noah Harley is developing the series for FX, with filming kicking off soon.
