The scripts for Noah Hawley’s upcoming FX Alien series have reportedly been finished with production set to begin next year.

After Disney finished its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, it began to develop new projects for the Alien franchise. The first of these projects was eventually revealed to be an FX series helmed by Fargo and Legion creator Noah Hawley. An Alien Hulu film directed by Fede Alvarez is also in development.

Since the Alien series was originally announced, details have slowly been making their way online. Noah Hawley has revealed that the series won’t be an Ellen Ripley story, and will focus on a number of major companies developing artificial intelligence. In addition, it will be the first project in the franchise, aside from the Alien vs Predator films, to take place entirely on Earth. Sadly, it seems that the series might take a little bit longer to hit screens than originally hoped.

Originally, Noah Hawley was hoping to have the series released sometime in 2023. However, reporter Alex Zalben has reported that the Alien series won’t start production until next year. In addition, he also revealed that the scripts for the series had been complete:

Here is the plot synopsis for the latest film in the franchise, Alien: Covenant:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Directed by Ridley Scott from a script written by John Logan and Dante Harper, the film stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
