Nobody should discount the Falcon! The director of Captain America: Brave New World speaks on how important Danny Ramirez’s hero is to the film.
It seems like almost every week a new story breaks about Captain America: Brave New World (most often revolving around the film’s many controversies). However, despite being the co-lead of the film, almost no ink has been spilled about Danny Ramirez’s role as Joaquin Torres, aka the Falcon. When speaking on the character to Empire, director Julius Onah revealed that his character served as a key part of the film’s emotional core.
“There’s this incredible big brother/little brother dynamic between them,” Onah explained. “It’s going to be one of the key emotional centres of the film.”
It’s good to hear that Danny Ramirez will be playing a hearty role as Falcon in Captain America: Brave New World. His relatively small role as Joaquin Torres in Falcon and the Winter Soldier was memorable even in a series packed with memorable character and moments. Falcon has always played a core role in the Captain America films and comics, so it’s a relief that the film is at least sticking to some tried and true elements.
Captain America Faces New Threats In A Brave New World
Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres seemingly isn’t the only one in new waters with Captain America: Brave New World. Julius Onah spoke on how Captain America will be facing threats the likes of which he’s never faced before in the MCU, and it’s only with the help of Falcon and a few new tools that he discovers along the way that he’s able to overcome the impossible odds.
“These guys are incredible fighters,” Onah continued. “And Sam has been there and back. He’s got some tricks up his sleeve, and over the course of the film there are things he comes to learn that become other tools in his arsenal, when he’s facing even the most impossible of threats.”
Given Joaquin Torres and Sam Wilson are facing off against a Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, it’s certain that the duo has a tall hill to climb when it comes to saving the day. However, given everything fans have seen from the film, the more impossible hill may be the critical backlash the project receives on day one!
Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
