Fans have been wondering why Sam Wilson hasn’t had a more prominent role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since becoming Captain America. According to a new rumor, Brave New World will show exactly why he was benched in the MCU.
One of fans’ biggest complaints with the Multiverse Saga has been a lack of connectivity between MCU projects. While the legitimacy of this issue can be argued, it certainly seems odd that a character like Captain America wouldn’t get their own film until Brave New World, which isn’t due to release until mid-2024. According to insider CanWeGetSomeToast, Sam Wilson was sidelined purposefully by President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
“To put it simply, he’s been benched. President Ross thinks Sam’s time as ‘Captain America’ is better suited for publicity, while Sam KNOWS he’s meant to be in the field,” the insider revealed on Twitter. “And that is just the tip of the iceberg to their conflict…”
This certainly lines up with the journey of the Captain America mantle in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with John Walker being used more as a stage show than an actual hero in the war against the Flagsmashers. If this insider is to be believed, this struggle between the man and the symbol is set to carry on with Sam Wilson in Brave New World, which couldn’t be more exciting for fans.
