Is Captain America: Brave New World in trouble? Anthony Mackie has officially returned for reshoots following a slew of reports suggesting poor test screenings.
It’s almost hard to imagine that Captain America: Brave New World is set to debut in just over three months. The film has been plagued with reshoots, with seemingly each round revealing new details in set photos. Fans thought that the film had finally been locked as reports of test screenings have hit the net, but it seems Anthony Mackie has returned to set one more to film some scenes.
While Anthony Mackie is the only one seen in these set photos, it’s likely he’s not the only one set to return for this round of reshoots. Giancarlo Esposito implied that he’ll be returning to film some scenes for Captain America: Brave New World soon the other week, and it’s more likely than not that the rest of the Serpent Society will follow in his wake.
Captain America: Brave New World Test Screenings Leave Fans Worried
Two different cuts of Captain America: Brave New World were shown in recent test screenings according to insider reports. However, it seems neither managed to strike a cord with audiences. Reactions described the project as inessential and flat, a far cry from the charismatic energy of Anthony Mackie in prior projects he’s headlined within the MCU.
That being said, it seems Anthony Mackie isn’t the problem with Captain America: Brave New World, with reports giving high praise to both him and Harrison Ford. The issue seems to stem from supporting characters such as The Leader, who was in too much of one cut and too little of the other. It’s unclear if Marvel will be able to salvage the project with so little time left on the clock, but one can only hope the studio manages to pull out a win at the eleventh hour.
Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
