Despite the character’s popularity and the growing calls for her to receive her own standalone film, Marvel Studios has yet to schedule a Black Widow solo movie. Now, Captain America star Chris Evans has made the case for a Black Widow film during an interview with Elle.

Chris Evans commented on the possibility of a Black Widow film and praised the work of co-star Scarlett Johansson.

“That’s a good question. It would really just clean up, wouldn’t it? Scarlett [Johansson] is so good at everything she does. She’s played such a crucial part in the other films. She always makes her presence so felt—even when there are 50 different superheroes running around onscreen. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens at some point in the future. I’m sure Scarlett would be open to it.”

While Scarlett Johansson has explained that a Black Widow film has not moved forward due to timing, it appears both Johansson and Kevin Feige are more than open to developing a standalone movie featuring the popular heroine at some point.

Until then, fans can see both Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson next summer when Avengers: Infinity War is released in theaters on May 4, 2018.
