One of the producers behind Captain America: New World Order recently teased Harrison Ford’s role as Thunderbolt Ross.

Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross are set to clash during the events of Captain America: New World Order, according to Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore. Set to begin filming in 2023, New World Order sees Ford making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Thunderbolt Ross, replacing the late William Hurt, joined by Tim Blake Nelson, who is back as Samuel Stern AKA The Leader for the first time in since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

“Well, look, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, he is going to bring his own team to play,” Nate Moore told Collider. “It’s no secret that Samuel Sterns is making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is fantastic because Tim Blake Nelson’s the best.”

“Harrison Ford is taking on the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and to see Sam Wilson and Thunderbolt Ross, which if you remember actually threw him in prison at the end of Civil War because he violated the Sokovia Accords,” Moore continued. “There’s going to be some natural sparks there, which I think are going to be really fun.”

The next Captain Amercica movie

New World Order is set after the Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which follows Sam Wilson as he embraces the Captain America mantle in a post-Avengers: Endgame world. Thunderbolt Ross and The Leader are expected to serve as the main villains of New World Order, giving Sam quite a challenge for his first cinematic outing as Captain America.

Julius Onah is directing Captain America: New World Order, working a script by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The film’s cast also includes Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Shira Haas as Sabra.

Captain America: New World Order is currently slated to hit theaters on May 3, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
