In a recent post, someone proposed a theory as to why Captain Marvel changes her suit color in the upcoming film.
The theory in question was posted on Reddit. The user cited the obvious difference between the characters outfits with one being green and black and the other being red and blue. This can be seen throughout the trailer and many have speculated that she is the subject of a Kree and her green/black uniform is from her captors.
One fan, however, seems to think that the red and blue uniform will come from a familiar Captain America fan:
What if Phil Coulson suggests Carol to use the red and blue color schemes on her suit after she gets her memory since it’s already established he was a Cap fanboy and was responsible for designing Cap’s suit with the classic comicbook look in Avengers 1.
While we have no way of knowing if this will be the case, it would be a nice callback to the first Avengers film. Phil Coulson hasn’t been seen in the films since the 2012 hit and it would be nice if he had one final major action. He was last seen on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where his character only had a limited time to live.
What do you make of this theory? Would you like to see Coulson have such an influence on the character? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Here is a plot synopsis for the film:
Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
