The latest Captain Marvel photo may reveal the exact year in which the film is set.
Yesterday, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson revealed a new photo from the film as part of her efforts to encourage U.S. citizens to vote in the 2018 midterm elections. Now, MCU Cosmic has noted that the “Rock the Vote” posters featured in the image are surrounded by club flyers, with one advertising an event scheduled for Thursday, August 29. The only Thursdays to fall on August 29 in the 90s, the decade in which the film is set, were in 1991 and 1996. Considering the “Rock the Vote” posters were used in an MTV election campaign for 1992, it would seem that 1991 is the likely year in which Captain Marvel is set.
