‘The Acolyte’: ‘Russian Doll’ Actor Charlie Barnett Joins ‘Star Wars’ Series

The series will take towards the end of the High Republic era.

Charlie Barnett is set to reunite with Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland on The Acolyte series.

Filming on The Acolyte is expected to begin soon over in the UK. While the series didn’t have a presence during Lucasfilm’s D23 presentation last weekend, reports continue to come out revealing who will be part of the ensemble. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Barnett is the latest actor to join the Star Wars series.

Barnett To Runite With Russian Doll Creator

Charlie Barnett is best known for his role in Russian Doll, created by The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland. Barnett has also appeared in Arrow, You, and Chicago Fire. There are no details on who Barnett will play, but he joins a cast that includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Manny Jacinto. Lucasfilm describes The Acolyte as “a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”

Here is the synopsis for Lucasfilm’s next Star Wars series hitting Disney Plus, Andor:

“The ‘Andor’ series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”

Andor stars Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly. Tony Gilroy, Dan Gilroy, Stephen Schiff, and Beau Willimon served as the writers of the Star Wars series while Toby Haynes, Susanna White, and Benjamin Caron directed the episodes.
