An Aqualad series is in the works for HBO Max, with Charlize Theron on board as an executive producer.

HBO Max continues to expand their original DC content with a new series following the Jackson “Jake” Hyde version of Aqualad. Charlize Theron, A.J. Dix, Beth Kono, and Andrew Haas of Denver & Delilah Films are all on board the project as executive producers. No writer is attached to the Aqualad project for HBO Max yet.

Jackson “Jake” Hyde version of Aqualad is also known as Kaldur’ahm and was created by Brandon Vietti, Greg Weisman, and Phil Bourassa for Young Justice, but the character first appeared in Brightest Day #4. In the animated series available on HBO Max, Hyde is notably revealed to be the son of Aquaman villain Black Manta.

HBO Max’s Aqualad series from Charlize Theron will be based on You Brought Me the Ocean. The 2022 DC graphic novel was written by Alex Sanchez and illustrated by Julie Maroh. The story follows Hyde as a gay teenager in New Mexico discovering his superhuman abilities while falling in love with a classmate named Kenny Liu.

In Titans season two, Aqualad made his live-action debut, where Drew Van Acker played the Garth version of the character. Here is the synopsis:

In Season 2, following the aftermath of their encounter with Trigon, Dick reforms the Titans. Under his supervision in their new home at Titans Tower, Rachel, Gar and Jason Todd train together to hone their hero abilities and work together as a team. They are joined by Hank Hall and Dawn Granger aka Hawk and Dove and Donna Troy aka Wonder Girl. Although these original Titans attempt to transition into a regular life, when old enemies resurface everyone must come together to take care of unfinished business. And as this family of old and new Titans – including Conner Kent and Rose Wilson – learn to co-exist, the arrival of Deathstroke brings to light the sins of the old Titans which threaten to tear this new Titans family apart once more.

Titans season two also featured Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Curran Walters, Conor Leslie, Chelsea Zhang, Joshua Orpin, Minka Kelly, Alan Ritchson, and Esai Morales.

Titans is available to stream on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding Charlize Theron’s Aqualad series for HBO Max and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
