Earlier this year Chiwetel Ejiofor secured a deal to star alongside Tom Hardy in Venom 3. While details about his role have been kept close to the chest, a new rumor suggests he’ll be playing Orwell Taylor, the found of The Jury.
The rumor of who Chiwetel Ejiofor will play in Venom 3 comes from insider DanielRPK, who claims that the actor will play the classic Venom villain Orwell Taylor across from Tom Hardy. While perhaps not the well known villain, Taylor was the first antagonist of the Lethal Protector comic by way of The Jury, an organization tasked with killing Eddie Brock after Venom killed his son.
The reveal that Chiwetel Ejiofor will be headlining Venom 3 as Orwell Taylor likely comes as a disappointment for many fans given Venom: Let There Be Carnage ended with a tease that Patrick Mulligan would return as Toxin. However, given a symbiote was the villain in the last two movies, it’s likely a good change of pace for both Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and for fans.
What to expect from the next Venom movie
Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker are producing Venom 3. The four were also involved with the first two Venom movies, which were directed by Ruben Fleischer and Andy Serkis. Kelly Marcel is making her directorial debut with the third installment.
Venom and its follow-up Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned a combined $1.36 billion at the worldwide box office. Following their release, Tom Hardy reprised his role as the anti-hero for the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, setting up the long-awaited arrival of the Symbiote suit for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
