New behind-the-scenes photos reveal how the Avengers: Endgame special effects and makeup team transformed Chris Evans into “Old Man Cap.”
After helping to defeat Thanos and paying his last respects to the fallen Tony Stark, Chris Evans’ Captain America traveled back to the past on a mission to return the Infinity Stones to the point they were taken during our heroes’ time heist. However, fans learned Chris Evans’ Captain America decided to stay in the past and live a full life with Peggy Carter when he returned to the present as an older man to pass the shield on to Sam Wilson.
Now, new behind-the-scenes stills from Before & Afters reveal how a combination of makeup and CGI was used to transform Chris Evans into the older version of Captain America. As the photos show, Chris Evans wore old-age makeup and tracking dots on his face while filming the aforementioned scene. Later, the visual effects team at Lola VFX enhanced the makeup partly by referencing the performance of an older actor named Patrick Gorman, who served as Chris Evans’ double on the set and mimicked the Captain America actor’s movements as best he could.
