Chris Evans’ Lightyear has received a brand new, action-packed trailer set to tunes of David Bowie.
One of the biggest surprises coming our way this year is Pixar’s Lightyear, which details the origins of the character who inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy. While previous Toy Story films have seen Tim Allen voice the galactic adventurer, Pixar has tapped Chris Evans to star as the iconic astronaut. It’s unclear just how this sci-fi adventure will relate to the Toy Story films, especially because this Buzz Lightyear isn’t even related to the one we’ve seen on screen for the last three-ish decades.
Details on the Pixar action-adventure film are slim and kind of confusing but fret not, as the studio has debuted a brand new trailer for Lightyear. Though we don’t get many new details, we see that there’s an emphasis on galactic action, a stark departure from Pixar’s more comedic fare. That isn’t to say the trailer isn’t filled with jokes, as a cat robot named Sox steals the show with its deadpan but informative manners.
If a talking robotic cat wasn’t enough to get you excited, you’ll be pleased to know that Thor: Ragnarok director and Korg actor Taika Waititi is set to appear in the film. That’s a solid Avengers reunion.
Pixar also debuted a brand new poster for the sci-fi epic.
Lightyear blasts off into theaters on June 17, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Chris Evans’ upcoming film, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
