In Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor reacted to the team’s failure to stop Thanos by isolating himself and drinking heavily, resulting in him gaining a significant amount of weight over a five year period. While our heroes were eventually able to reverse Thanos’ decimation and defeat the Mad Titan, Chris Hemsworth’s still retained his “Bro Thor” physique when audiences last saw him.

Consequently, fans have been wondering if Chris Hemsworth’s “Bro Thor” might return for Love and Thunder, the fourth chapter of the God of Thunder’s solo film series. During live viewing part for Ragnarok through his official Instagram account, director Taika Waititi addressed the topic and cast doubt on Chris Hemsworth’s “Bro Thor” making a comeback for Love and Thunder:

“We haven’t figured that out, but I feel like that’s done.”

Perhaps another sign that the “Bro Thor” won’t be returning was a recent video posted by Hemsworth on his official Instagram account, which showed the actor doing a home workout.

Are you glad to hear that Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder will likely be back in superhero shape for his next standalone adventure?  What are you hoping to see in the upcoming film? Are you glad Taika Waitii is returning to the director’s chair? Let us know in the comments section below.

Full details on the plot for Love and Thunder are currently under wraps, though the film will be based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, in which Jane Foster becomes the new Thor. Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on February 18, 2022.
