Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth says that Thor: Love and Thunder won’t be his final Marvel Cinematic Universe outing.

The ending of Avengers: Endgame shook up the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ways that we still have yet to fully comprehend. The film resulted in the death of Black Widow and Iron Man with Captain America retiring, leaving Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye as the only members of the original members of the Avengers left. The last we saw of Thor, Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder was leaving Earth to pursue new adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

However, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor film series hasn’t exactly had the best time. The first film was by no means the best of the MCU’s Phase One lineup and its sequel The Dark World is widely considered to be one of the franchise’s worst installments. The series eventually bounced back with Thor: Ragnarok but after seven films as the Norse God of Thunder, some have wondered if Chris Hemsworth may be ready to hang up Mjölnir. The actor, however, has no immediate plans to do so.

While speaking to the Polish magazine Elle Man, Chris Hemsworth was asked if Marvel was planning on retiring his character after Thor: Love and Thunder given the fact that Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster would be wileding the hammer in the upcoming sequel. The actor answered with a firm no:

“Are you crazy ?! I’m not going into retirement. Thor is far too young for that. He’s only 1500 years old! This is definitely not the film where I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”

Full details on the plot for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder are currently under wraps, though the film will be partly based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, in which Jane Foster becomes the new Thor. Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released on February 11, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Love and Thunder and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
