Avengers Star Chris Pratt Slams Ellen Page’s Attack That His Church Is Anti-LGBTQ

Chris Pratt Ellen Page Guardians X-MenAvengers star Chris Pratt has taken to Instagram to share a lengthy response after X-Men star Ellen Page recently called the actor out for attending a church that is famously anti-LGBTQ.

After initially slamming Chris Pratt for attending Los Angeles’ Zoe Church, Ellen Page doubled down on her position, criticizing the Avengers star for belonging to an organization that hates the LGBTQ community, and made it clear he shouldn’t be surprised if people wonder why it isn’t being addressed.

Chris Pratt took to Instagram today, and set against a picture of a sheep, he pushed back against the accusations from Ellen Page and defended the church while also sharing his own personal experiences of how the church has helped him during crisis, as well as others regardless of their sexual orientation:

“It has recently been suggested that i belong to a church which ‘hates people’ and is ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ.’ Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone. Despite what the Bible says about divorce my church community was there for me every step of the way, never judging, just gracefully accompanying me on my walk. They helped me tremendously offering love and support. It is what I have seen them do for others on countless occasions regardless of sexual orientation, race or gender. My faith is important to me but no church defines me or my life, and I am not a spokesman for any church or group of people. My values define who I am. We need less hate in this world, not more. I am a man who believes that everyone is entitled to love who they want free from the judgement of their fellow man. Jesus said ‘I give you a new command, love one another.’ This is what guides me in my life. He is a God of Love, Acceptance, and Forgiveness. Hate has no place in my or this world.”

Top Actors To Replace Ben Affleck In Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’

Previous1 of 7

Batman Ben Affleck Matt ReevesBen Affleck is officially out as Batman and it's a pretty sad day.

Words cannot describe how sad I am to see Ben Affleck announce that he's no longer Batman. His Batman is why I do what I do. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I fell in love with his comic book-accurate interpretation of the Caped Crusader. It was a breath of fresh air and it felt like we finally had the one true Batman.

Three years have quickly sped by and we're officially going to receive a new Batman for his next movie. Last night, Ben Affleck announced that he will not return as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves' The Batman and now everyone's attention has moved towards wanting to know who the next Bruce Wayne will be. Matt Reeves is said to want an actor that's around 20 years younger than Affleck while Warner Bros. wants someone older. My guess is that Reeves wants a fresh start while the studio wants an older actor for crossover potential.

In this list, I will discuss the actors I think can replace Ben Affleck as Batman using the parameters that Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. want. Hit Next to see our picks to play the Batman.

Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender X-Men

Michael Fassbender is an X-Men alum and no stranger to comic book franchises. The actor has shown multiple levels of range and could definitely handle the Batman/Bruce Wayne personality. If they go with the older range for the next Dark Knight, then Fassbender is probably one of the best choices to take over the role.

Ben Barnes

The Punisher Ben Barnes Billy Russo Jigsaw Marvel

Ben Barnes is out of a job after The Punisher season 2 and he's one of the best actors in that series. The second season tied up Barnes' arc on The Punisher and the actor has already told us that that he'd love to play the Caped Crusader. Barnes definitely has the pretty boy look going on for him and I wonder what his take on Bruce Wayne could be.

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling Blade Runner 2049

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Ryan Gosling needs to star in a superhero movie. I've always thought Gosling would make a great Batman. Every role that he's done has shown us his capability and he could crush it as Bruce Wayne.

Jon Hamm

Jon Hamm Mad Men

Jon Hamm is my top choice for an older Batman. If Warner Bros. wants to cast an older actor for crossover potential, Jon Hamm is the studio's best bet. He has a similar look to Ben Affleck, and c'mon, the guy's look just screams Bruce Wayne.

Armie Hammer

Armie Hammer The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Armie Hammer is 32 years old and was cast as the Caped Crusader in George Miller's Justice League: Mortal. That film will never see the light of day, but that doesn’t mean that Hammer doesn't deserve a second shot at being the Batman. He's charming, broody and will probably give his all for this role. Armie Hammer is a great option because he's young enough for Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. could work in a way for him to crossover with the rest of the DC Extended Universe.

Richard Madden

Richard Madden Bodyguard

Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden is my top choice to replace Ben Affleck as Batman. The actor is young, has the look and definitely has the acting chops to play the duality of Batman and Bruce Wayne. Madden just won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television series for the BBC drama Bodyguard, so Warner Bros. may want to quickly snatch him up.

Well worded defense of your faith and morals Chris!

How is he being a bigot and hating anyone exactly?

What exactly is the basis of your accusation?

Firstly, I’m a straight white male. I just stumbled onto this site because I’ve been engrossed in this Ellen Page/chris pratt issue. As you can see, I do not capitalize chris pratt’s name. This is because I despise haters and chris pratt is a hater so he does not deserve caps.

Simply because hillsong church (no caps for hillsong either) was kind to pratt during his divorce does not prove that hillsong is not a gay-hating organization. Divorce and gay are not the exact same issue. hillsong needs to acquire new members from the pool of people who aren’t already attending churches. A significant number of the people who aren’t attending churches are likely to be divorced people so if hillsong wants to increase membership hillsong has no choice but to forgive/overlook divorce among potential new members. But the percentage of gay people among the people who aren’t already attending churches is probably much lower so hillsong can afford to select gay people as the one group to pick on. hillsong wll accept gay people (and gay people’s donations) but they will treat gay people like 2nd class citizens because it’s no great loss to them since they don’t really need any gay members to have a sizable congregation the way they DO need divorced members to have a sizable congregation. In other words, hillsong is picking and chosing which bible editcs to obey and disobey based on their financial concerns.

hillsong also needs to be OK with divorce so it can justify keeping chris pratt who is rich, famous, and popular. Keeping people like chris pratt results in increased membership for the church because more people will join the church if chris pratt attends the church. In other words, chris pratt’s attendance strengthen’s this hate-mongering church.

Anyway, the hate from places like hillsong and people like chris pratt is causing death and medical depression among some gay people. Please read the two below articles:

Places like hillsong and people like chris pratt are part of the system that causes gay people (including gay youth) to be medically depressed and suicidal. By hating on gay people hillsong, chris pratt, and their ilk make gay people feel very bad about themselves. And by hating on gay people hillsong, chris pratt, and their ilk make prejudice straight people feel comfortable with bullying gay people. Taken together it’s all a recipe for bullying people and driving people to suicide.

I will never ever again pay to see a movie that has chris pratt in it. I despise him for his ugly-hearted crap and I despise his evil church for its’ hate-mongering.

Wo, oga go and sit down somewhere and stop bickering like a child who lost his lollipop. For your Info Avengers Endgame will have more views this year than last year’s Infinity War. Yes that’s without your malicious mind sitting in the theater and malicious cash paying for anything. I still believe you’ll see his movies tho,

All your comments and similar ones do, is to stare up hate and even more malice.

You’re one of the reasons this world is bad.

You’re one of the reasons why a gay teen would consider suicide this very moment! Why because they’ll look through this thread and see the word suicide on your comment and suddenly think it an option and see reasons with you and feel like the world truly doesn’t love them.

The Bible says Love covers a multitude of hate. Review Chris’s answer and you’ll see it’s true. You’ll see between both of them, who’s attacking who in their communication.

Choose to calm a storm instead of seeding one with comments like this.

Well said, Chris! My respect for you just went up 100x!
