Chris Pratt Reveals How Gamora’s Death Affects Star-Lord In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’

A heartbroken a-hole.

Chris Pratt has opened up about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and how Gamora’s death in Avengers: Infinity War will affect Star-Lord in the upcoming sequel.

Avengers: Infinity War was a film that functioned very much as a sequel to several of the solo franchises. In particular, it continued the story of Guardians of the Galaxy as the team had the most connection to Thanos. In the film, Gamora is ultimately killed by the Mad Titan in order to obtain the Soul Stone. This revelation causes Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord to lose his cool in his fight with him and triggers the events that lead to half the universe being wiped from existence.

In Avengers: Endgame, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians are brought back from Thanos’ snap but Gamora remains dead. However, a past version of the character comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s main timeline but lacks the history that the original version she had with Peter Quill. These events will, unfortunately, be devastating to him in the upcoming film.

How The Death Will Affect Peter Quill

While speaking to ScreenRant, Chris Pratt, discussed how Gamora’s death will affect Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians in the upcoming film, indicating that it will cause things to go bad for them:

“Gamora is the love of Star-Lord’s life; the romantic love of his life. He’s dealt with the loss of Yondu, and of course of his mother. And now he’s dealing with the loss of Gamora, the one person he found who truly knew him and loved him. She doesn’t know who he is. That’s really had a profound impact on him personally, and his ability to be a leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It opens the Guardians up to [attack] and makes them vulnerable. That’s where you catch him. He’s dealing with that, for sure.”

The Guardians of the Galaxy were last seen in Thor: Love and Thunder. Here is the synopsis for the film:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5th, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
