Chris Pratt’s ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ Debuts With Franchise-Low Rotten Tomatoes Score

Things are not looking good for the latest Jurassic movie.

Jurassic World Dominion

The first reviews for Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World Dominion are in and things are not looking good for the third and final installment in the Jurassic World series.

With reviews now hitting Rotten Tomatoes, Jurassic World Dominion‘s Tomatometer score currently sits at 34%, following 213 reviews (73 Fresh, 140 Rotten). This is the lowest score for any of the films in the Chris Pratt-led Jurassic franchise. The previous entry, Fallen Kingdom, currently sits at 47% after broadly failing to impress audiences.

It’s worth noting that while critics have panned Jurassic World Dominion, its audience score – after over 1,000 verified ratings – sits at a much higher 80%. This might suggest that the return of the original Jurassic Park stars is winning over the general audience.

Dino Disaster?

Jurassic World Dominion picks up where Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom left off, with dinosaurs now released into the world to live amongst humanity, bringing to light the fears that Sam Neill’s Alan Grant, Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler and Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm shared in the first Jurassic Park. Fittingly then, all three of those original cast members return in the new film, joining forces with Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing.

Rotten Tomatoes’ critics consensus for the film reads “Jurassic World Dominion might be a bit of an improvement over its immediate predecessors in some respects, but this franchise has lumbered a long way down from its classic start.” While a few critics have shared a more positive response, there seems to be a consensus that the story is particularly weak and the film is lacking in dramatic tension. High points that are picked up include the returning Jurassic Park cast members and the dinosaur-driven action sequences.
