Chris Pratt Reveals How Star-Lord’s Infamous ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Crash Out Affected His Life

Was Star-Lord so wrong?

Chris Pratt was taking the flack for Star-Lord! The actor reveals how his most controversial Avengers: Infinity War scene impacted his everyday life.

There were plenty of iconic moments in Avengers: Infinity War. The Iron Spider suit, “All that for a drop of blood,” and even The Snap. However, perhaps the most infamous scene to come out of the film is Star-Lord’s legendary crash out. The scene where Chris Pratt’s character single-handedly ruins the plan by punching Thanos right before the gauntlet was off his hand.

It’s a scene that has been memed to the moon and back. However, it seems as though the jokes may have bled into the real world. Chris Pratt sat down with Josh Wilding at ComicBookMovie.com to help promote his recent film Mercy. During their chat, the star revealed that Star-Lord’s actions in Avengers: Infinity War actually had a tangible impact on his life.

“What’s wild about this scene is how much people eviscerated Quill for that moment of human weakness. People genuinely hated the character for a while. On the street, they’d come up to me like, ‘Why’d you do it, man?’ I’m like, ‘I didn’t do anything!'”

“Also, if Quill hadn’t done that, the two movies would’ve been thirty minutes long. ‘We got him.’ Roll credits. That’s not a movie. Looking back, I feel the weight of what that moment did to the character. I’m still glad it happened, but I didn’t realize at the time it would become iconic.”

Star-Lord’s Infinity War Fumble

Given how extreme fandoms have gotten in recent years, it’s a relief that the worst Chris Pratt got was some mild accosting on the street. The actor adds that his role in Avengers: Infinity War was far different than anything he had done as Star-Lord prior, though he certainly doesn’t regret working alongside the Russo Brothers.

“It’s a mega scene. I look at it differently now than I did going into it. This was very much a supporting part. Between Infinity War and Endgame, I think I worked maybe twenty days total. I was there to support the Avengers cast. I love the Russos. They’re great at letting us collaborate, contribute to the writing, and shape the characters.”

“This was also the first time I played the character without James Gunn directing me. That was noticeable, especially given James’s relationship to Peter Quill. But this wasn’t a Guardians movie, it was an Avengers movie.”

One aspect that people miss when it comes to Star-Lord’s infamous scene in Avengers: Infinity War is that Chris Pratt’s hero didn’t just ruin the plan – he came up with the plan! So while his outburst may have ruined their chances to get the gauntlet, they would have never had the chance without his strategic genius.
