What’s Star-Lord REALLY been up to since fans last saw him? Chris Pratt speaks on the present and future of the Guardians of the Galaxy hero in the MCU.
While the Multiverse Saga opened dozens of doors for the MCU, only one was definitively closed. That being, the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy officially came to an end, with most of the main cast confirming that there’s no plans to return to their roles. That is except for Chris Pratt, who has teased that Star-Lord may yet have a future in the franchise.
The actor has been no stranger to teasing that Star-Lord may return outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. However, when speaking to Dexerto promote his upcoming film Mercy, Chris Pratt once more made a point to state that his time in the MCU is far from over.
“We made a promise with Guardians of the Galaxy that Star-Lord would return. I think I’d really like to make good on that promise.”
Star-Lord’s Current Status In The MCU
Of course, any return that Chris Pratt makes to the franchise will inevitably met with questions about what Star-Lord has been doing since the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. And it seems that the star has thought long and hard about how the hero is spending his retired life in the MCU. The answer? Music and cognitive dissonance.
“Probably denying the fact that he was responsible for the death of Iron Man, while simultaneously trying to convince people that he was a superhero at some point,” Pratt remarks “Probably catching up on the music. From ’70s pop all the way until he came back, there’s a lot of music to catch up on.”
Given Guardians of the Galaxy‘s identity was defined by the music it had Star-Lord listen through during the films, any return that Chris Pratt makes in the MCU would likely be accompanied by a brand new musical identity. It’ll be interesting to see how the hero’s taste evolves in the new landscape of music, especially now that he has the internet at his fingertips.
